Homes and Garden Feature: Hitler!!

In 1938, the British magazine Homes and Garden ran a feature on Adolf Hitler's "Mountain Home - a breathless, three-page Hello!-style tour around Haus Wachenfeld, Hitler's chalet in the Bavarian Alps." This, in itself, reveals fascinating things about how palatable Hitler was in the British mainstream press in 1938. However, the article got a whole new life recently when posted in Simon Waldman's blog. When Waldman started getting 10,000 hits a day (compared to 300 previously), it began an argument about Nazism, neo-Nazism, copyright, weird gardening and involved everyone from the holocaust denialist David Irving, to 60 (proper) Holocaust scholars. Now Waldman's fascinating story is available here at the MediaGuardian.
