Miss Digital World

Okay, so artificiality and our not-so-different reality have been converging for some time. Is this an opportunity to ask questions about the-way-the-world-is, or simply another marketting opportunity? Well, for Italian Franz Cerami, it's all about the chance to replicate the worst aspects of our already hyper-mediated world as he introduces ... the Miss Digital Universe, the beauty pagent for virtual women!

The blurb:
Miss Digital World is aimed at digital artists, advertising agencies, cinema production companies and videogame programmers who have created famous (or even not so famous) virtual models, following the success of videogame heroines such as Lara Croft, digital anchorwomen like Ananova and cloned actors, as in the third Matrix film.
So now beauty is about creation by media companies ... well, it has been for so long, I guess this pagent is at least direct and honest about that. *sigh*
