Howl's Moving Castle (Hauru no ugoku shiro)

Wednesday, November 24, 2004

The BBC notes that the anime release Howl's Moving Castle by auteur Hayao Miyazaki (whose last film, Spirited Away, proved that anime has a global audience) has set a Japanese box office record for the first two-days of release, taking almost 1.5 billion yen. I'm very excited about this film and given Disney is on board as distributor, I imagine that early 2005 we should be seeing more Miyazaki magic down under.

Speaking of films, summer is upon us, so Perthies it's time to start checking out the Somerville Festival Films and the newly re-jigged Moonlight Cinema in King's Park (which replaces Sunset Cinema; same location, same type of films). I shall be making more of the outdoor cinemas this year, so people, let me know what we're all going to see! :)
