Terminal Politics

Arnold Schwarzenegger is playing politics. The twentieth century may have seen former film cowboy Ronald Reagan as President of the so-called (and increasingly ironic) "free world", but it looks like the twenty-first century may see politics complete with state of the art digital effects! And where else would the Terminator announce his intention to run? Why, The Jay Leno Show, of course. MSNBC reports:
SCHWARZENEGGER, 56, a self-styled moderate Republican who was born and raised in Austria before becoming a champion bodybuilder and top-drawer Hollywood star, stole the spotlight when he announced his bid during a taping of “The Tonight Show.” “I decided that California is in a disastrous situation right now,” said Schwarzenegger, the husband of NBC News correspondent Maria Shriver and star of such blockbusters as “The Terminator” movies, “Conan the Barbarian” and “Total Recall.” “... The atmosphere is disastrous. There is a total disconnect between the people of California and politicians. “The politicians are fiddling, fumbling and failing. And the man failing more than anyone is Gray Davis. He is failing them terribly, and this is why he needs to be recalled, and this is why I am going to run for governor.”
At least we know that if he gets elected once, he'll certainly run a second time; his campaign is already part of teh fabric of popular culture (since, we all know, he'll be back... *sigh*).
